Can a common-rail rail engine be be converted?
A modern vehicle badged 'Hdi', ‘HPi’ or ‘PD’ will have a high pressure fuel system of common-rail or unit injector type. Due to the potential complexity of conversion and the variance between fuel system layouts, it is strongly recomended that common-rail conversions are carried out at one of our fitting centres.
There is potentially an additional cost of approximately £150 to our normal price for the conversion of a common-rail engine: Common-rail engines frequently use an electric lift pump to assist the mechanical pump on the engine where a large volume of fuel is return back to the vehicle's tank. In these cases, a veg-tolerant electric pump must be used to pull veg oil from the fuel tank.
Lube Oil Considerations
Common-rail engines are increasingly being offered with extended lube oil changes, now often annually. Consistent with recommendations from manufacturers such as Mercedes for operation on 100% biodiesel, Regenatec recommends the lube change interval is reduced to half or one third of the standard interval time for operation on pure vegetable/plant oil.
